Spring Is In The Air | Cherry Blossoms & White Dresses

March 25, 2016

I have spring fever… I love this time of the year (I mean who doesnt right?); theres an explosion of life and color all around – smell of blooming flowers, brighter colors, warmer temperatures, longer days and most importantly, shedding those (heavy) layers (of clothing). Spring brings with it not just a new season but (to me) also a promise of new hopes and new beginnings!

The white and pale pink blossoms known as Sakura symbolizes the beginning of spring!! Its that time of the year when a number of cities from Vancouver B.C to Seoul carry out the Japanese tradition and celebrate Hanami, the Cherry Blossom Festival (thanks to the Japanese government for gifting the cherry trees several years ago). Its a spectacle to see thousands of locals, tourists and professional photographers flock to these cities to capture the beauty in their minds and cameras. While on the east coast, my hubby and I visited the Tidal Basin in D.C. to witness the beauty of the largest Cherry Blossom festival in the US. Now that we have moved to Washington, we caught a glimpse of the famous cherry blossoms (2 weekends in a row) in the campus of the University of Washington.

Where are you checking out cherry blossoms this year, in your city or elsewhere?

Spring is also the time to bring out those crisp and clean white clothes. Spring and white (dress) symbolize the same thing – freshness and purity.  Just like a LBD (Little Black Dress), a LWD (Little White Dress) is also a closet staple – its versatile and stylish. While a LWD is spontaneous and carefree, its also elegant and sophisticated. In short, a white dress is a lot of amazing things and you can dress down or dress up a simple white dress to suit any occasion – from a pretty daytime look to a glamorous evening look!

The white dress I am wearing here was a gift from the hubs for Valentines Day (love the beautiful lace, flare and pretty details). Normally, I prefer to wear such a dress (with little gold sparkles) for an evening out, but I was just in the mood to wear this one to check out the cherry blossoms (and styled it just the way I would if I were going out on a date night). I paired it with (a recent find on thredUP) my stunning royal blue and gold combo pumps! I wore a side braid and put on some pink lipstick to finish off the romantic look. For a daytime look, I would throw on my denim jacket and slip into more comfortable lace up flats (see, the options are endless ).

I am thrilled to be collaborating with thredUp!! I am seriously addicted you guys, I love the number of brands and (unbelievable) prices and discounts they have! I have been scoring some amazing bargains on the website. If you are a first time user, you also get an additional 20% off your entire purchase. Hop on over to check it out.

Whats your favorite way to style a LWD?
