Galentine's Day Celebration | Women Celebrating Women

February 13, 2017

Galentine's Day, what the heck is it!?!?
While some of you probably enjoyed some Galentine time this past weekend (or plan to do so today), some of you might be wondering what it is to even begin with? Well, you are not alone, a lot of people (especially the ones who aren’t really social media savvy) do not know what or even when Galentine’s Day is. And no, contrary to popular belief, it is not the same day as Valentine’s Day except where you celebrate it with your Galentine instead of your Valentine, but it is the day before V-Day, G-Day is celebrated on 13th February (thank you, Leslie Knope and Parks & Recreation)! While you do not need a reason or one single day to celebrate, it is always nice to have a day dedicated to spend with your girlfriends.

Sipping mimosas, being silly with your gal pals at brunch, shopping, getting your hair done, enjoying movie marathons, taking a cooking class together, spa day, or even a girls night out drinking and dancing is a great way to spend some quality time with your girlfriends and celebrate Galentine’s day. To me, Galentine’s Day is much much more than just having fun and enjoying each others company - it is about women celebrating other women and their accomplishments, about women supporting each other, about women uplifting each other, about women encouraging each other, about women inspiring other women to be their best damn selves...

“When women support each other, incredible things happen.”

“Behind every successful woman is a tribe of other successful women who have her back.”

“You can tell who the strong women are. They are the ones building each other up, instead of tearing each other down.”

I am not the one who has (or even wants) a lot of friends in my life because god knows I cannot stand fake or pretentious people but always seek genuine friendships and relationships. When I find such genuine friends, I hold onto them for dear life (even if I don’t talk to them for months or years, they will always be special to me) and never let go of any opportunity to celebrate them. And I am so thankful for these amazing ladies, Angie (Chasingmyhalo) and Carleeh (Mamarazzaonamission) who came into my life last year (another reason for me to be grateful to the blogging world) and have made life in Seattle so much better for me, these babes are everything I mentioned above and much more... We couldn’t be more different from each other but we all have one thing in common - we value community over competition! There is so much love, joy, passion, laughter and fun when we are all together and these babes truly make my heart happy! So I thought we needed a day to not just celebrate Galentine’s Day but a day to celebrate these admirable ladies and to celebrate our friendship! (And as I write this, I realize just how much I miss my girlfriends in New York, sigh!!!).

But with me being extremely busy and so much going on in my life right now, I honestly didn’t have the time to plan an elaborate Galentine’s Day. All I did was mention my intention to celebrate G-Day in passing to my photographer friend, Missy of Missy Palacol Photography… And she worked her magic to put together nothing-short-of-a-memorable-experience for us girls this past Friday!

Special heartfelt thanks to everyone we had a lovely opportunity to partner with and who made sure this Galentine's Day celebration was one to remember…

Photographer: Missy Palacol
Associate Photographer: Hayden Fraser | Instagram

Again, this amazing day and girl time wouldn’t have been possible without Missy, period! Not only is she the best photographer I have ever worked with (sorry my dear hubs ;)) but I realize she is also an all round event planner. She pulled everything together from the venue to flowers to goodie boxes. And not to forget, we even got our hands on these beautiful photos posted on the blog (plus 100s more) the same night, how crazy is that! Missy’s associate photographer, Hayden Fraser made sure to capture every possible detail.

Venue: Brunch @Urbane Restaurant, Hyatt
Executive Chef: Brian Pusztai | Instagram

It is an upscale restaurant in the heart of downtown Seattle with a comfortable neighborhood vibe. Executive Chef Brian Pusztai hosted a themed brunch for us girls at the restaurant and every dish we tasted was uber-delicious! Chef Brian along with Chef de Cuisine Nate Parnel brought out (and explained) one dish after another until we were no longer able to stuff our faces. Urbane takes pride in working with local farmers and producers to ensure the highest quality and you could really tell that the ingredients used in every dish was fresh and seasonal, flavors really do speak! Check out their special Valentine’s Day Dinner menu (#mouthwatering), maybe even celebrate V-Day at Urbane and be absolutely sure to stop by another time for a tasty bite or two (you can thank me later!).
Stay tuned for a detailed post on our brunch menu, pics, plus a recipe...

Florals: First & Bloom
Tammy Myers of First & Bloom brought these beautifully assembled Amaryllis flowers along with other details which made for a perfectly themed-table-setting. There’s just something about flowers that is so soothing and nothing instantly illuminates a place quite as flowers do. The freshness, the fragrance and the colors of these flowers and the lovely table setting sure brightened up our special day! Tammy was so thoughtful and even gave us each a bouquet to take home with us, these pretties are now sitting in my living room, still smiling and all cheerful even after 4 days. If you are saying love, say it with flowers!!!

Gift Box: Holcomb Weddings & Events

Callie Holcomb of Holcomb Weddings & Events had put together these cute goodie boxes for us. These goodie boxes are all things girly and all things love. And a little back story, apparently, each goodie box cost a total of $14 to symbolize the 14th day of the month, Valentine’s Day, how endearing is that! It’s those simple things and anecdotes in life that make a huge difference, no?

Greeting cards: Lindsay P Designs

These handcrafted greeting cards made by Lindsay from Kraft Paper Bags covered with natural fabric are beautiful, simple and unique. Being such a sucker for greeting cards/quotes myself, I couldn’t appreciate the added touch of these pretty cards more. They are thoughtful and such a perfect way to express love and emotions!

Throwing a terrific party is all in the details and these wonderful partners made sure every single detail was taken care of without me having to lift a finger. If you are local to the Pacific Northwest region and are planning an event, I highly recommend turning to these vendors to cater to your needs!

All in all, I had the best time with #MyGirlSquad #MyTribe celebrating Galentine’s Day, where we each felt like celebrities and the rest is history (the photos speaks for themselves, don’t they)!!! I am still high and reeling from all the energy and excitement from Friday, can you tell? :)
P.S: We truly missed our other amazing blogger friends who couldn’t join us!

Have a terrific Galentine’s and Valentine’s Day with your loved ones y’all!!!

Thanks to Missy Palacol Photography, Urbane Restaurant, First & Bloom, Holcomb Weddings & Events and Lindsay P Designs for collaborating on this post! As always, all ideas and opinions expressed here are unbiased and my own.
