The story behind this photo here

It has been a hot sec over here, especially with us taking off to California for 2 weeks (a day less, to be precise) this busiest time of the year for us! What was I thinking?

And now I am buried in all the things I have to catch up on and wrap up and still make headway with all the holiday content. Will I ever have my s*** together? Methinks not, sad but true! Just being honest over here.

But then again, we got to meet a bunch of our friends and hang out with them and their littles. Plus, we also had the sweet opportunity to celebrate Diwali festival with them which was pretty special, lots of love + uber delish food for 2 whole weeks #heartisfull #stomachishappy 🙏🏼

Top 10 October Favorites

1) Matching Family Pajamas

As I mentioned in this post, the first thing I do around any holidays is to get my hands on matching family pajamas to get into the spirit of the holidays + to snag some before they are sold out. You’d be surprised how quickly these sell out, especially in the sizes we want so I have learned my lesson, the hard way. So now I order some online even before they hit the stores so our family is all set for the season.

I ordered these matching Christmas Pajamas before we left for California, they were home even before we were back from our trip. We are all pretty obsessed with them and can’t wait to flaunt them as soon as our Xmas decorations go up. I shared a peek on my IG Stories if you didn’t already catch them, saved under ‘Holiday’ highlights. Other options that are currently in my cart - option 1 (men, kids, baby), option 2, option 3, option 4, option 5, option 6

2) Holiday Mugs

The next thing I buy is the holiday mugs (how cute is this blue!?). I won’t be exaggerating at all if I said that I am OBSESSED with cute mugs! PROOF!! I bought a few ‘holiday mugs’ back in October. Yep, in October! Why not right? Especially when they hit the stores 3 months before Xmas!? Option 1, option 2, option 3, option 4, option 5, option 6

P.S. I do have mixed feelings about it, as much as I love to live in the present and enjoy it, I also look forward to the future. And especially with being a blogger the sooner I can bring these home the sooner you all get to see them and it will give you ideas to shop/decorate your space, which is ultimately the goal of what I do. So it’s a win-win!

Steal of a deal! I mean you can’t beat this price for a Christmas Tree, especially when it is a 7ft. Pre-Lit tree (4ft option here, currently less than $20)!! I bought a very similar tree a few years back for 3 times the price, sigh! If you live in a smaller space or if you would like a secondary tree to put up in one of the corners or your rooms then this tree would be perfect!

I bought a simple green Christmas tree last year and flocked it myself. This DIY FLOCK TREE project was so easy and so fun and cost me a fraction of what I’d spend if I bought one at the stores. They are pretty expensive, upwards of $300, whelp! So stay tuned for a full blog post on how to make your own flock Christmas tree.

4) Native Deodorant

The Native deodorant has been all the rage lately, and for all the right reasons. I picked one up right before our recent trip to Europe and it did actually work underneath half a dozen layers and blasting heaters in the car. A true test of a deodorant!

Native is a natural deodorant, it is Vegan, Gluten-Free, Cruelty-Free, and Free of Aluminum, Parabens & Sulfates. I have tried many natural deodorants in the past but this one clearly takes the #1 spot.

5) Hydrating Facial Oil

I talked about hydrating facial oil on IG stories this weekend and had a few questions come my way. So figured I will share some details here. It is that time of the year when our skin is exposed to harsh weather and gets super dry and flaky and loses all the glow. I wrote a detailed post on it, 10 FALL SKINCARE ROUTINE TIPS FOR A HEALTHY SKIN, give it a read for some tips, do’s and don'ts.

Adding facial oil to your Fall skincare regimen is really key. They not only hydrate your skin but also provides the necessary nutrients and fatty acids. You can apply facial oil as a layer over your moisturizer or simply add a few drops to your moisturizer before applying onto your skin and you are good. I alternate between Vitamin E oil (my absolute favorite), Avocado Oil, Coconut Oil, Rosehip Seed Oil, Olive Oil, etc.

6) Superdown Fashion

Superdown, a fashion brand that I have lately been obsessed with! It seems as if my closet is soon going to be taken over by superdown favorite finds. “The Gen Z-focused brand has attention-grabbing attitude right down to its name, which is purposely spelled in all lowercase letters.”

One of my favorite online clothing stores, Revolve (big sister of superdown), gifted some superdown pieces to me a few months back and I have been hooked ever since. Ranging from $29 to $110 they carry trendy and street-wear styles. Perfect for those who love to stay on top of what's trending.

When it comes to coconut water, I am kind of a coconut water snob! Given that my dad owns a coconut tree farm and given that I grew up drinking fresh, sweet, tasty coconut water I simply can’t stand bottled coconut water that we get here. None of them taste like real coconut water! So I end up not buying any coconut water even though I know that they are extremely good for health.

But when we were in California, my sister-in-law introduced us to Harmless Harvest Coconut Water (after a bad episode of upset tummies) and I was pleasantly surprised at how close to the real deal this one tastes! I liked it so much that the first thing I looked for at Costco (after we got back from California) is this coconut water. And I was so glad to find them at our Costco stores too, cuz more often than not Costco doesn’t always carry the same stuff, especially in two different states.

And exactly why I wasn’t able to find the tasty organic veggies bites my friend in Cali introduced me to (at our Costco). They would be perfect for all your upcoming parties. And for all my Indian TV fans, Costco in California also has Hotstar TV Subscription deals, we bought one for us from there cuz I was damn sure our Costco wouldn’t carry them, and sadly, I was right!

8) Estée Lauder™ Double Wear Foundation

I mean, this foundation is a cult favorite and needs no introduction. The Double Wear Foundation is a 24-hour liquid foundation with a flawless, natural, matte finish that evens your skin tone and covers imperfections with buildable coverage. Double Wear lasts in hot and humid weather and feels lightweight and comfortable.

But that’s not what I am here to talk about. I have the hardest time matching foundation to my skin tone, reason being, while my forehead is one color the rest of my face is another, and my neck is a completely different tone. They say match your foundation to your neck but that never worked for me (for the above-said reasons). A few months back when I was running out of my foundation I made a quick stop at the store and had the MUA match the foundation again (I usually end up ordering online when I find deals).

She did something pretty amazing this time! She matched the foundation not just to my neck but to my forehead too. I am way happier with my foundation shade now than I have ever been! With over 55 shades from Estée Lauder™ it would be a shame not being able to find one that doesn’t fully make you happy right! So use this tip if you struggle with a similar issue as I do.

9) Over-The-Knee Boots

Every time I wear these over-the-knee boots I get tons of compliments! These aren’t expensive (less than $100) and these stay put without sliding off (which can be super annoying about OTK boots)!

But if you want OTK boots options for less than $50 then this one is my favorite! It comes in 3 solid colors and makes it easy to pair with a variety of outfits for versatile wear (over jeans, with mini skirts and dresses, etc). Snag a pair or 2 before they completely sell out, cuz they are going super fast, no kidding!

Honestly, reusable mugs are what I have been trying to use as much as possible, not just when I am traveling but whenever I am out and about on a daily basis. Trying to make this change ever since I wrote the SIMPLE STEPS TO A MORE ECO-FRIENDLY LIFESTYLE blog post. Every small step counts, right!?

I won’t lie, I do tend to forget to bring these with me when I am on-the-go but I am not going to give up until it becomes a habit! It does help when you have a cute mug handy, especially this time of the year when you have so many holiday-theme-related options! Thanks to @peppyfitfoodie that I found me a cute ‘Hot Cocoa’ mug and I am obsessed with it! Wait a sec, now that made it two favorite finds on just mugs, oh well! ;)

And FYI, most of these October favorites also make for great gifts, so start adding these to your cart now and snag them when they are on sale but before they sell out!

On that note, here’s to 2 months of non-stop shopping and making a big dent in our wallets! :D
